How to control sync from the menu bar
The menu bar icon carries everything you need day to day, and its shape tells you whether sync is running, paused, or has something to say. Closing the window does not quit the app; only Quit does.
- 1 Click the app's menu bar icon to open the menu.
- 2 Choose Pause Sync before a call or when tethering, so nothing uploads.
- 3 Choose Resume Sync to pick back up, or Sync All Now rather than waiting for the next scan.
- 4 Choose Open Sync Folder to jump there in Finder, or Upload File to send something without opening the app.
- 5 Choose Quit to actually stop syncing; closing the window leaves it running.
Most of the time you don’t need the window at all. The app sits up here, in the menu bar.
Click it, and there’s everything you need day to day. The icon itself tells you what’s going on, whether sync is running, paused, or has something to say.
About to join a call, or tether to your phone? Pause Sync. Nothing uploads until you say so.
Resume Sync picks it straight back up. And if you don’t want to wait for the next scan, Sync All Now.
Open Sync Folder jumps you straight there in Finder. And Upload File sends something to your workspace without opening the app at all.
When a sync finishes, you get a notification. Which is usually the only time you need to think about it.
And closing the window doesn’t quit the app. It keeps syncing in the background. To actually stop it, Quit from this menu.
