Privacy-First Cloud Storage

Most cloud storage services treat your data as a product. dosya.dev is different. We are source available, privacy-first, and transparent. No tracking, no ads, no selling your data. You can audit every line of code that touches your files.

With free file storage up to 5 GB and paid plans that place no limit on file size, dosya.dev is the file hosting service that scales with your needs. Every upload is protected with secure file sharing features including password-protected links, expiry windows, and download limits.

Unlike traditional cloud file storage providers, we never charge egress fees. Upload once, deliver anywhere. Your bill reflects storage only, not bandwidth. That makes dosya.dev ideal for large file transfer workflows where files are downloaded repeatedly by clients and collaborators.

Security is not an add-on. It is built in. Every file is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher, negotiating TLS 1.3 with every current client. Beyond that, the Vault adds end-to-end encryption: files are encrypted in your browser with XChaCha20-Poly1305 before upload, and the key is derived from your passphrase and never sent to us. We hold ciphertext and public keys, so Vault files cannot be handed over even if we are compelled to. It is included on every plan, including Free.

Need to send files online to someone without an account? Generate a share link in one click. Recipients download directly, no sign-up required. Add a password, set an expiry from 1 hour to 30 days, or limit the number of downloads for temporary file sharing.

dosya.dev operates 200+ edge servers across 46 regions on 6 continents. Files are served from the nearest location for fast downloads, and every paid plan can pin storage to a specific region for data residency or latency reasons.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about storing and moving large files with dosya.dev. Can't find what you're looking for? Contact us.

What is dosya.dev and who is it for?

dosya.dev is a source-available, privacy-first file storage and sharing platform. It is built for people who deal with very large files: video editors, photographers, researchers, engineering teams, and anyone moving terabytes between continents or clouds. The web app, desktop client, CLI, and shared packages are published on GitHub, so you can read exactly what happens to your files instead of taking our word for it.

Is dosya.dev open source?

dosya.dev is source-available rather than open source. The web app, desktop client, CLI, status page, and shared packages are public on github.com/dosya-dev under the Dosya Source Available License 1.0: you can read and audit every line, report issues, and contribute improvements, but you cannot redistribute the code or run it as a competing service. Our official SDKs are MIT licensed. We publish the code for transparency, because file storage should not be a black box.

How does dosya.dev protect my privacy?

Privacy is at the core of dosya.dev. We do not sell your data, and we load no third-party analytics or advertising scripts. All files are encrypted at rest with AES-256. HTTPS connections require TLS 1.2 or higher and negotiate TLS 1.3 with every current client; SFTP is secured by SSH rather than TLS. You can also enable client-side (zero-knowledge) encryption, where files are encrypted in your browser before upload, meaning we cannot read them even if asked. And because our client code is source-available, you can verify how it works yourself.

What's the largest file I can upload?

No plan puts a cap on an individual file. The only thing that bounds an upload is the storage you have left, so on Free a single file can fill your 5 GB and on a paid plan it can be as large as your package. Workspace administrators can set a tighter per-file limit for their own team. Uploads are chunked and resumable, so a very large file survives a dropped connection or a closed laptop. There is no monthly transfer cap and no egress bill on any plan; Free has daily download allowances (10 GB a day across share links, 5 GB a day per API or protocol credential) which reset every 24 hours.

What is limited on a paid plan?

Only storage. Every paid size includes unlimited file size, the full catalog of 46 storage locations, unlimited workspaces and team members, the REST API and webhooks, S3, WebDAV, SFTP and rclone access, audit logs, and two-factor authentication. There are no per-seat charges and no upload caps, and nothing is reserved for a larger paid size. Four things are contractual rather than technical and come with an Enterprise agreement instead: sso and saml, a signed data processing agreement, a named account manager, private nodes. If you need something the published plans do not cover, contact us.

Do you charge egress fees?

No. Unlike S3, Google Cloud Storage or Azure Blob Storage, dosya.dev never charges for downloads or transfers out, on any plan including Free. Upload once, deliver anywhere. Your bill only reflects the storage package you picked, never bandwidth. Free accounts are not billed for egress either, but do have daily download allowances: 10 GB a day across share links and 5 GB a day per API or protocol credential.

How does pricing work?

You pick a size, and that is the only choice - every feature is on every paid size. Plans are fixed monthly packages rather than metered usage, so your bill never surprises you. Free gives you 5 GB. Then $3.99 for 100 GB, $9.99 for 500 GB, $19.99 for 1 TB, and $39.99 for 2 TB. Need more than Business? Stack storage add-ons onto any paid plan: +100 GB for $2 a month, +1 TB for $15 a month, +5 TB for $60 a month. Paying yearly gets you two months free, and you can cancel anytime.

Do you offer a free trial?

We do not run free trials, because the Free plan is permanent instead: 5 GB with no credit card, no expiry, and no countdown. It includes the web app, the desktop app, LAN Transfer, imports from Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox, and full file sharing, within the Free allowances published on our Fair Use page. You can also earn 5 GB for every friend who signs up and verifies their email, up to 25 GB extra. When you outgrow it, pick a paid package and cancel whenever you like.

Where are my files stored? Can I choose a region?

Yes, and on every plan including Free. You choose your workspace's storage location when you create it, from a catalog of 46 locations across 6 continents including the US, UK, Germany, France, Türkiye, Singapore and Brazil. That choice is locked once the workspace exists, so every file in it lands in the same place. Files are stored on Cloudflare R2; workspaces created in an EU member state are placed in R2's EU jurisdiction, which keeps the stored bytes in EU data centres. Uploads and downloads are routed through your nearest edge for speed, which is separate from where the files are durably stored.

Can I share files with people who don't have an account?

Yes, and it costs nothing. Generate a public link anyone can open, or a private one only your named recipients can, each confirming their address with a one-time code so forwarding it grants nobody else access. Links can expire after 1 hour, 24 hours, 7, 30 or 90 days, or on a date you pick, and can carry a password. On Free, links run for up to 7 days and up to 5 can be active at a time; paid plans set any expiry, including none. Public-link recipients download without signing up. You can also send file requests, letting clients upload straight into your folder without an account.

Is file sharing free?

Yes. Every plan, including Free, includes public and private share links, password protection, and expiring links at no extra cost. Recipients do not need an account to download, and we never bill you for the bandwidth they use. Free share links share a 10 GB-per-day download allowance; reach it and links pause until the allowance resets 24 hours later. Paid plans have no daily allowance.

Which third-party services do you integrate with?

You can connect Google Drive (including Shared Drives), OneDrive or Dropbox and have our servers copy files and folders across for you, and you can paste any direct link to have them fetch the file, resumable up to 1 TB, without routing it through your own connection. Beyond that, dosya.dev speaks the protocols your tools already use: an S3-compatible API, WebDAV, SFTP, rclone, a REST API, and outbound webhooks.

What happens to my files if I cancel or downgrade?

Nothing is deleted. If you cancel, you keep paid features until the end of your billing period, followed by a 14-day grace window before your account returns to Free limits. Files above the Free limit stay accessible and downloadable - you simply cannot upload more until you are back under the limit or on a paid plan. Your files are only removed when you delete them or close your account.

How do I send large files online?

Upload your file to dosya.dev with chunked, resumable uploads, then generate a secure share link and send it to your recipient. No account is needed to download. There is no per-file size limit on any plan, so even a 500 GB video is a single link.
