How to create custom roles and permissions
The built-in roles cover most teams, and a custom role lets you set exactly what someone can do, down to which protocols they may use. Anchoring a member to one folder limits them to it everywhere, on web, desktop and every protocol.
- 1 Open Team to see the built-in roles: Owner, Admin, Member and Viewer.
- 2 Create a custom role when you need something in between.
- 3 Set the matrix across files, folders, sharing, team, and protocol access such as WebDAV and S3.
- 4 Add conditions if you need them: allowed IP addresses, or a cap on requests per minute.
- 5 Assign the role, and anchor the member to a folder if they should see only that one.
Not everyone needs the same access. Roles handle that.
Open Team. The built-in roles are here. Owner, Admin, Member, Viewer.
Need something in between? Create a custom role.
The matrix covers files, folders, sharing, team, and even protocol access like WebDAV and S3.
You can add conditions too. Allowed IP addresses, or a limit on requests per minute.
Assign the role to a member. And if they should only see one folder, anchor them to it.
Anchored members see that folder, and nothing else. On web, desktop, and every protocol.
