How to restore a deleted file
A deleted file waits in Deleted until you restore it or clear it for good. Restoring puts it back in the same folder under the same name, and a folder brings its contents back with it.
- 1 Right-click a file and choose Delete.
- 2 Open Deleted in the sidebar to find it.
- 3 Right-click and choose Restore to put it back in its original folder.
- 4 Restore a folder to bring everything inside it back too.
- 5 Choose Delete permanently when you are sure; that frees the storage straight away.
Let’s delete a file on purpose. Right-click, Delete.
It’s not gone. Open Deleted in the sidebar, and there it is.
Right-click, Restore. Back where it was, same folder, same name.
Folders work the same way. Delete a folder, restore it, and everything inside comes back too.
When you’re sure, choose Delete permanently. That frees the storage right away.
Big folders clear in stages, with progress, so nothing hangs.
